Seems like minimum charge was over $100 just to walk in the door. Do the replacement shards come from OEM? Practise you feel that is a more modern wait than the blinds?

I still feel it is in the mechanism, though there are no broken pieces and strings do not appear to be in incorrect places. The OEM company has been very helpful and they are reviewing my photos and more today.

I ordered the cord and re-strung the iii blinds on our bay window and they works like new. Now just accept to get more than to do the rest. I also replaced the little one-half circle rail that they run thru. With years of use it was worn thru and sharp which caused fraying and caused the problem with lowering the blinds. Hope this helps! Pella didn't have replacement blinds for me since windows are 20 yrs old and I didn't want to cover my woodwork either!

@Anita Dueis ...how did you know how to exercise this? I have Pella doors with the blinds and looks like the monofilament line that runs through the blinds has been broken and replacements cost 409 dollars. If I tin can do information technology myself, that would be crawly.

I called the local Pella office and got referred to a parts dept. I recall this customer support # 1-877-473-5527 is the one I ended up reaching. Tin you lot give more details on replacing cords for an old Pella in-the-window shade (with all cord controls)? I'm seeing three identical plastic cord holders. All the shade mechanism images I notice on line and the other shades in my house have a split (unique) tilt appliance gismo. Replacing the raise & lower cords on normal shades has been footling. In this case, while the raise and lower cords broke (outside the shade) it is the tilt mechanism that stopped working (at the same time). Can't prepare information technology, if I tin can't find it. Oh and there are no guides for our window sashes. Thanks.

Give thanks you for the number. They are sending the ladder cord gratuitous of charge even though my windows were installed in 1987. OEM wanted $170 to supercede the cord and became indigent when I told them to just ship back. I had wanted slimshades for my sliding french doors. They actually transferred me to their Bedford plant and I was able to gild these directly after being told by the local office that these were no longer available. My advise is go directly to this number, they are the all-time.

I found o blinds online that volition fix the cords for 35 dollars. My doors are 30 years old also. The is 10 years.

the closest pella guy is 3 hours away and charges

150 to come and eighty per hour plus parts.

so I am sending 4 sets of blinds to oem and we volition run across.

at present I have to figure out how to get the entire blond assembly out. There is a metal piece that goes under the gasket and I oasis't figured how to get that out however.

I have the same situation with the blinds in my 12 yr old patio doors.

Unfortunately Pella does non tell you how to remove the blinds from the window.

This is how I removed my blinds, later on verifying that it was just attached by the metal piece in a frame grove under the gasket.

I carefully raised the gasket just enough on one terminate while I used a tiny flat screwdriver inserted in the corner betwixt the metallic piece and frame to raise the end of the blind out of the grove nether the gasket. And then I continued lifting the blind enclosure out of the grove from ane end to the other.

I chosen OEM, and was told they arw not currently manufacturing shades due to their equipment not being ready. Has this changed recently? I hope and so! Pella is outrageously expensive for replacement.
We have an out-of-warranty Pella Between-the-Glass shade which separated at a pleat, apparently from dominicus exposure. I contacted OEM Blinds considering their spider web site says, "OEM'southward pleated between the drinking glass shades work beautifully on Pella* windows and doors." They told me to transport the shade in for a quote. They called the twenty-four hour period subsequently receiving information technology and said they don't practice "cellular" shades. Pella's site indicates their Between-the-Glass shades are all "cellular style". Very confusing and disappointing. I'm back to trying to deal directly with Pella and/or with Lowe'south.

As it turns out they were horrible to deal with. Such a delay and rude client service. The blind was returned to me yesterday 4/19/18 ( from Jan 2018 ) and information technology was restrung and it does work but they rudely did not put the toggle on the end of the string. Such a disappointing visitor.

Yes blinds are between the glass. Now exploring possibilities to put roman shades or something on the business firm side of the glass rather than between. No reasonable options for and so many windows.

I only have numbers for Illinois/Kentucky which I establish online.

My large bay window with blinds between the glass is xix yr old. I appreciate his noesis!!! Our local service dept. did not accept these skills and headquarters in Iowa did not either.

I accept done nothing else. Not happy with the situation. Mine don't need to be restrung but they but go defenseless going upwards or down.

This week a regional sales director ( been with Pella thirty years ) from a local Pella store came to my home. He knew how to take the blinds off-- he untangled the string at the top of the blinds--I purchased spray pure silicone lubricant from hardware store and sprayed some spray into a cup and and so with my fingers applied lubricant on the strings and poured few drops on top machinery--then the regional sales managing director put the blinds dorsum on. I have a large 4 console bay window with blinds between the glass , 19 year old. One blind the string did break. That is existence repaired at OEM at present in Taylor, MI --

If the blinds are admittedly level and plumb (it doesn't take much for them to get out of alignment, especially after yous've removed them for cleaning...), see if you tin can run the cording through bees wax from JoAnne Fabric or another sewing/craft supply shop. JCPenney has excellent cordless blinds for the outside of the windows. I have them in every room of my house, except one. This is the room with Pella windows...10 to be verbal. Information technology just so happens they are of odd size and penney's does not accept the blinds I similar in my size. Penny's cordless cellular blinds come in many colors and fit then all woodwork can show, or exist hidden. I like mine to show. Check and see if your windows are of normal size. Blinds are often on auction and free shipping!!!

OEM replaced mine.( Go online) Super easy sent my blind they replaced in less than a week. Simply contact ASAP as they are closing business sometime in October.

I called OEM and they said they would not practice mine, every bit they are the ones that are controlled with the slide that goes up and down instead of the pull cord. And so now what? I am at a loss.

I got on this site, with the same trouble. I am at my daughters taking intendance of the grandchildren and did something to one of her French doors. What is OFM and how practice I contact them. Hers are less than v years old.

My Pella regional sales manager in Delmar, NY did it for me cause he knew how. He has been with Pella for xxx years. With his know how information technology only took minutes to disengage the blinds. He brought to my firm a cylinder and bubble wrap to package the bullheaded also. He gave me service that the service person from Rensselaer did not exercise for me. He also provided the address and phone # for OEM shades in MI. --- Good Luck.

Pella has the string. When I called back to go enough to practice all my blinds the guy I talked to said the cord was free( I paid for the 1st lodge). I used a darning needle and ran it from the bottom upwards just following the exsisting cord.

They are called Slimshade Snap-In Between the Glass Blinds, Lesser-Up.

I had mine repaired by the new OEM Blinds company in Michigan. Less than satisfied for 2 reasons. Insanely expensive to repair. $182. Only informed of cost later on they receive them from you. They volition not give any info re ballpark to set up prior to getting the blinds.

Secondly, the "repaired" blind does not heighten and lower correctly. It seems to snag at certain places and hangs unevenly!

Tin you remove the inner glass pane and manually adjust the blinds? Note that Pella owner'south transmission for sure slim shades states "blinds MUST be in horizontal position when reinserting into the headrail".
Hi Olivia, yes, I've removed them and tried to adapt and reinstalled horizontally multiple times. It appears that when the blinds were restrung at the Michigan facility, a small-scale plastic piece on the bottom that secures the cord in place, was broken when reinserted. Since I cannot find a replacement, the blinds go on to snag. Just honestly, I think the problem could be due to more than just that likewise.

Pella showrooms accept offered options which I believe included a shade that lowered from top or raised from bottom, depending upon your window's operational style. Check their website, merely to be certain.

Like so many on this forum, I have 25+ year-old Pella BTG shades. The string is easy and relatively cheap for a DIY replacement. I've done several windows and saved a ton. However, for the windows on the sunny side of the house, there are tears/cracks developing in the pleats. Pella says "so sorry, they are too old" and local shade repair shops say they don't do Pella. Given the space betwixt the glass is about 3/4 inches, at that place doesn't seem to be many options. If I could just discover shade material 48" wide with four drilled string holes in the right places, I could make my ain. Whatever ideas? This is a magnificent bay window that would toll $chiliad+ to supercede. I simply need a new five/8 inch pleated shade....

Did anyone find a source for new or replace Pella in glass shades like this I have attached pictures of? House is 20 years old and Pella told me these are no longer bachelor. I sent email to OEM in MI to run into what they could practice. I take a pair of doors with 20 10 66 openings (we accept the glass) that we did not purchase the blinds for when we congenital the firm.

I have same issue every bit many above. Pella wants $748 (and that was with an alleged 35% disbelieve) to supercede ane shade plus aircraft costs. Shades are less than 12 months out of warranty and Pella pretty much said too bad. I have restrung the shade myself and it is working so far, but notwithstanding hangs up. I'yard going to try lubricating the cord as others take suggested and run into how that goes. I doubt I will ever buy another Pella product again, they are way too expensive and don't seem interested in standing behind their product when it comes to replacement parts and reasonable costs.
